How to use Google Maps in iOS 6

Apple new mobile operating system for its mobile devices iOS 6 was made public by the corporate giant just a few days ago, with many new enhancements and features like Passbook, Facetime on cellular, improved Siri, it was awesome. One of the major update in the latest OS was that it lacks the Google Map, and was replaced by their own navigation app called Apple Maps. As soon as it was made public many drawbacks were put into the limelight which were similar to that of the ones which Google Maps once had during its initial release days. But as we know that Google Maps as of now is the undefeated Champ of the Mapping World, has left many Apple users to find the ways to get the app back, but unfortunately there is no chance, and as the Apple maps rely on the Crowd-sourcing for its update as stated by the Apple, it may get a lot of time to get completely usable.

But there is a way you can enjoy the benefit of the Google map services, by using your browser.

Here is how
Go to your native Browser and enable the share location option. Then head towards “maps.google.com” and click on the book option located below the screen and place it on your icon rack, rename it to Google maps and you are done.
This is a bit like bookmarking, and till now this is the only way to get the benefit of the Google Map services, but there are rumors that, Google is upto something for the latest version of Apple iOS. Let’s hope that Latest Google Map app gets available soon for the Apple users desperately waiting for it, and does not face the same fate as was done to their Google Voice app for iOS.

Add iOS 5.1’s Lockscreen Camera Icon To Your Jailbroken iOS 5 or 5.0.1!

If your among many who have’nt upgraded your device to the latest iOS 5.1 Update and still wants that Camera icon on your Lockscreen which the latest update offers, then this article is definately for you.

iOS Developer Cjori has released a new jailbreak tweak on cydia called Camera Grabber For iOS 5.

This tweak makes the camera shortcut on the lock screen act like the iOS 5.1 camera shortcut. This means a few things:

        * The camera button is now a grabber – push the lock screen up and reveal the camera app.
* If you don’t have a passcode set you will have full access to your photo library.
* The camera shortcut always shows up (no need to double tap the home button).
* Tapping the camera icon will make the lock screen bounce.
* The camera icon looks more like a “grabber” and not a button (thanks to @XusBadia!)
* The slide to unlock knob is a little shortened allowing the full “slide to unlock” text to be shown(this doesn’t slow down opening the
camera interface)

Camera Grabber for iOS 5 is available on Cydia for free. So download it and let us know what you think of the new  camera shortcut in the comments.
